One of the main aims of the livelihood work is to strengthen village groups and progressively make them independent. Keystone works towards enhancing food security for the community members and food sovereignty of farmers by strengthening village level institutions and promoting traditional crops.

Strengthening village level seed banks is another important objective of the livelihood work. Maintaining a kitchen garden along with the revival of millet cultivation ensures that families are provided with an important source of nutrition, thus addressing one main issue contributing to the reduced wellbeing of indigenous communities. Keystone works closely with Aadhimalai Pazhangudiyinar Producer Company Limited, which was incubated by Keystone, to promote sustainable livelihoods initiatives among the indigenous communities.
