From selling honey to marketing locally grown coffee, pepper, millets and spices, the organic market development initiative sprung out of a need and want to revive the farming security system. The Nilgiris honey started getting bottled in 1994 under the brand “Last Forest”, a name which highlights the significance of the livelihoods carried out in the last few forest patches available in India, and the products have increased accompanying a need for thoughtful marketing.

Last Forest Enterprises emerged 2010 from this development and aims to spread the message of small indigenous farmers and gatherers, value-added organic products, biodiversity and food security, indigenous knowledge, traditions and crafts, sustainable harvesting and farming methods, local employment & market and fair trade principles.
