On 27-28 June, a team from the Western Ghats Portal visited Keystone for conducting a Bioblitz at Longwood Shola and uploading the data collected on to the portal. Staff from Keystone were trained in using various tools for identifying species in the wild and using the Observations interface in the portal to upload the data. The Bioblitz and subsequent online session helped us to contribute data to the larger knowledge commons. One of the advantages of using the observation inerface is that one can upload an observation of a species that we couldn’t identify and experts and interested persons visiting the portal can give their suggestions. In the one month since we began uploading data, we have already had a few species identified in this way. The observations shared by Keystone can be found here.
