A three-day workshop on Climate Change introductory concepts took place between 9-11th June 2021, for the Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA) partner networks alliance.

On the second day, participants got to learn more about the scenario in our country – both for Climate Change impact and also got to hear examples of collective community action. The final session on the last day focused on global frameworks for policy, funding, and governance for Climate Action.

The idea behind these sessions was to provide a general overview of Climate Change-related concepts and facilitate inputs from participants from their first-hand field experiences. Information dissemination in simpler terms at the grassroots level was voiced as a need for field implementers to be able to connect their work to the larger idea of climate change.

Important observations on fossil fuel subsidies and investments in India (and coal block allotments) were brought out as a contrast to the renewable energy mission plan under climate action.  The policy and governance machinery concerning funding access challenges to NGOs was also discussed. The sessions were tightly packed and the plan is to continue the climate action engagements on an ongoing basis to better understand and articulate climate action work from these landscapes.
