An LED display board has been installed at Charring Cross, Ooty in August 2009. The Board displays information pertaining to weather conditions in Ooty for awareness of people at large. Maximum/ Minimum Temperature, rainfall, humidity, sunrise/set and moonrise/set data is fed in daily from Kotagiri through a cellular connection, whereas the board automatically provides current temperature, date and time data. Data regarding climate change pertaining to the Indian context and slogans encouraging people to act in an environmentally friendly way are also displayed.
The Board has been fitted today with a power backup in the form of an inverter which will ensure smooth functioning of the display. We thank the District Administration and the Breeks School for enabling us to install the inverter. Hopefully the display would work non-stop and provide regular updates on weather and related information. We request anyone passing through Charring Cross to stop and look at the Weather Information Board and give us feedback. You can call 04266-272277 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
