On 8th March 2021,  a small gathering was organized to celebrate womanhood on our campus. Women staff and field volunteers from our working region participated in the one-day event.

During the course of the day, women from all walks, each with their own perspective vocalized their stories to create awareness on women empowerment and how they can support one another to strive for gender equality.

Post a high-spirited discussion on gender and womanhood followed a panel discussion comprising of indigenous women who have gone beyond social norms to chase their dreams. Each of them shared their motivation and personal path to success inspiring other women present at the event. They also took time to answer questions from the audience.

Post lunch, men and women were split into groups and tasked with a group activity to enact or depict solidarity for gender equality which was innovative, light-hearted, and entertaining.

At the Field Centre too …

On 26th March 2021 – at our Field Ecology Centre at Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, a small event with the theme “Women and Forest”- for those residing in that region was organised.

Women from our Farmer Producer Company affliated production center and project field volunteers gladly attended the event. Many of them shared their joy of being able to attend this small event after a long time. At this event too, talk over forest, lifestyles and livelihoods that shape indigenous women’s lives were discussed.

Many women expressed their interest in attending such events in the future to share and learn from one and another.
