By Water and Sanitation programme

Last month, Keystone’s Water and Sanitation programme signed an Memorandum of Understanding with PSG College of Arts and Science (PSGCAS) to kick off a partnership in studying and improving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) practices in Sulur and Sultanpet blocks of Coimbatore district. This will also include efforts in solid & faecal waste management, and menstrual hygiene management. The partnership will begin with a formative study and thereafter strategise and implement projects towards the sustainable development of these communities.

Students from PSGCAS will be sent to the selected village panchayats to conduct field studies in the form of surveys, documentation and data analysis of various parametres, following which feasible interventions will be proposed. The two partners will work to identify project concepts and potential clients and funders.

The work entailed by this MoU will fall under the rural transformation programme by the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme of the Indian government.
