This was the final week before the students left for spring break. The students finished their language classes which culminated in a short assessment for both English and Tamizh that covered verbal and written aspects of the language. With that out of the way, the rest of the week was spent with the students revisiting the research methods they had learnt in the previous weeks – be it in theory or practice through their short assignments. These included looking back at participant observation, survey and interview methods and basic idea of excel and simple data analysis. The students also discussed with their team members and guide on what questions to frame for their upcoming field recce, which was due, after they returned from spring break. While Hailey and Soumya discussed on the possible angles of approach and questions to exploring the healthcare research question, Zoe, Visithra and Anupriya looked at working with the existing survey form to assess the CA program in Sathy, at its completion stage. The scene is a bit uneasy though now, with the sudden spread of the new corona virus across the world and we will have to wait and see how this pans out.
