This month, staff from our Climate Change and Biodiversity teams attended the NDEAVOUR RNP Climate & Environment Portfolio Gathering in Mangalore. The gathering consisted of talks on how climate change impacts livelihoods, daily life, and food patterns.

Monthish Kuttan shares his takeaways from the three days of exhibitions, discussions, ecowalks, and more:

On the final day, we presented in a panel discussion on climate change and how the environment impacts Toda culture, cattle, lifestyles, and livelihoods.

My takeaways:

While all of us who presented at the conference are are working on climate change and the environment, our work and impacts on the environment are completely different. As many are working in urban areas, on subjects like climate change impacts air pollution, water and sanitation, and researching how such issues can be resolved by technology, our work in the Nilgiris is a bit different.
It was a nice experience, I had a lot to take away on how to work on different aspects in climate change.
It would have been nice to meet people working in similar areas to us.
