The Technical Support Unit (TSU) of TNUSSP, conducted a series of Webinar sessions on the 20th, 22nd & 28th of August. Broadly, three different topics were chosen for discussions, highlighting – the impact of the pandemic on education and schools; how could we manage mental wellbeing among children, and the importance of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure in schools.

Children, parents, teachers, school management committee representatives, researchers and implementer’s engaged in improving sanitation at schools, partook in these webinars.

The first webinar was an exclusive-interactive session-where children from various schools spoke and discussed how they have been coping, post the sudden closures of schools. In the second webinar, teachers, parents and social work enthusiasts took part to discuss how to engage with children during these times. The final session hosted experts in the field of Health & Wellbeing to showcase the effective practices in WASH that can be adopted at schools.

The network developed through this series of webinars have planned to come together to frame a plan to further scale-up WASH programs for schools located in the hill regions as well. The idea is to reach out to more educational institutions – informing them to make WASH practices the first priority once schools reopen.
