On account of completing two years of research on the Indian Pangolin and Grey Slender Loris in the forests of Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR), we presented our findings and distributed kits to frontline staff of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department.
From 24–28 August, we presented our detailed study to the DFOs of Sathy and Hasanur Divisions. The presentation covered methodologies, species distribution, and other findings from 2024–2026 across the tiger reserve. We also conducted five programmes to present key research findings to frontline forest staff. Participants included Forest Range Officers, Foresters, Guards, Watchers, and Anti-Poaching Watchers (APWs). The programmes covered the Sathy, Bhavanisagar, Vilamundi, TN Palayam, and Talamalai ranges.

As a token of appreciation, we distributed camouflage bags and steel water bottles with Keystone and STR logos. These were given to frontline staff who accompanied us during field visits, shared their knowledge, and guided us safely. Over 100 APWs accompanied us during more than 120 field surveys over the past two years. Sharing research findings with officials and frontline staff is important, given the species’ threatened status. It also supports the need to monitor their populations and habitats.
121 bags and 121 bottles have been distributed so far to the Anti-Poaching Watcher (APW) and Anti-Depredation Squad (ADS) staff in five ranges. In the following week, we will continue the presentations and distributions in the remaining five ranges of STR.
