The completion of the Gravity Flow Water Supply System at Gargama Village marks a significant milestone in providing sustainable, safe drinking water access for the local tribal community. This initiative, undertaken by Keystone Foundation on 05/08/2026, successfully harnesses the natural depression spring located within the village premises to provide uninterrupted 24-hour water supply to all 32 households.
Technical Implementation:
Keystone Foundation used a technically sound and environmentally sustainable approach by constructing a collection chamber at the natural spring source. The chamber is connected to a meticulously laid pipeline network that directs water to the village using gravitational force—eliminating the need for pumps or external energy inputs. This method not only ensures operational cost-effectiveness but also guarantees year-round water availability.

Health and Safety Compliance:
As part of the project’s quality assurance protocol, comprehensive water quality tests were conducted to determine potability. The results confirmed that the water meets all necessary health and safety standards, confirming that it is entirely safe for both drinking and domestic purposes.
Community Impact and Empowerment:
Prior to this intervention, residents, particularly women, travelled nearly 1 kilometre daily to collect water for their basic needs. The gravity flow system has alleviated this burden, allowing households to redirect their time and energy toward productive activities. Women can now use their saved time to prepare children for school and manage household responsibilities. They can also engage in livelihood activities and other essential tasks.

The community has expressed immense satisfaction with this newfound accessibility and reliability of water supply. The initiative has enhanced the quality of life and contributed to the social and economic well-being of PVTG families in Gargama Village.
Conclusion:
The gravity-based water supply system at Gargama Village demonstrates sustainable, community-centric development. It reflects Keystone Foundation’s commitment to empowering marginalised communities through innovative and inclusive solutions.
