A meeting was held on 24th February as part of the ongoing Community Foundations initiative in Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve. It is a part of a larger network under the GFCF (Global Fund for Community Foundations). The aim of the meeting was to share learnings, experiences of setting up groups at the grassroots level, developing  models & frameworks to encourage  community based entrepreneurship, cultural revival, and community-centric leadership. 

Two registered groups – Thoduve from Nilambur and Porivarai from Aracode shared their experiences of mobilizing youth, assessing needs of the local communities and developing work under the ACT (assets, capacities, trust) framework, registering their group and implementing various activities. 

The meeting was attended by representatives from  multiple regions of NBR – Nilambur, Aracode, Sigur, Pillur, Hassanur, Konnavakarai and Kotagiri – as well as the community media reporters, fellows and  stewards in the region. The members coming from different regions were from the Irula, Kurumba, Kota, Paniya, Kattunaicker communities. The meeting was a 1-day immersive and interactive discussion & worksop on ongoing activities, possibilities and way forward.
