Keystone’s team in Sigur were invited to attend the Genetic Biodiversity Fair that took place in Nedugula village on March 16. Keystone set up a stall, where we held live demonstrations on the extraction of honey. The event consisted of multiple talks and sessions on the different fields within agriculture, and distinguished guests were invited to witness the programme.

Various producer companies and renowned experts in the agricultural field. Twenty interesting and unique stalls peppered the hall, each displaying organically grown millets, seeds, and floricultural artifacts. The star of the fair was the millet: the spotlight was given to its diversity and countless health benefits.

The fair was attended by 300-450 people from in and around the Nilgiris, primarily farmers. One of the highlights of the fair, was the presentation on Traditional Medicinal Plants in the Nilgiris by Dr. Manikkavasagan, from the Indian Council of Agriculture and Research (ICAR). Another interesting session was held by someone from the Tea Board of the Nilgiris. Overall Jestin and Rajendran, Keystone’s representatives attested that it was a fulfilling and educative experience. They were encouraged by the positive response the fair received, especially by the keen interest in learning about and purchasing organically produced products, especially millets.
