About 60 Sanitary workers underwent extensive medical checks during a health camp organised in association with two local town panchayats on 11th February. Sanitary workers from Kotagiri and Kokkalthorai zones (women & men) underwent the screening. Those of them that require re-examinations will be extended the same and the expense will be borne by the organisers.
All of them who took part are permanent sanitary workers who most often lack the support for necessary check ups such as these. Through the HCL project, we got in touch with the local panchayats and solicited a complete list of their staff. In consultation with doctors of Kotagiri Medical Fellowship Hospital, a series of test were offered to the sanitary worker. Those with conditions that require immediate attention were asked to get in touch with our staff to process the payment for their treatment.
