Today, Radio Kotagiri 90.4mhz sets foot into its 10th year since it was launched, coinciding with the World Radio Day! We have organised a day-long event from 8 am to 5 pm, titled ‘One Day Radio Jockey’ which welcomed the people of Kotagiri to play radio jockey and take over Radio Kotagiri, sharing stories and experiences. Many people participated enthusiastically, especially school and college students, who were happy to have their voice recorded and broadcasted.
The event was a success, and we received a lot of positive feedback from the participants. Many requests from the participants urged us to continue organising such events in the future. We are planning to make One Day Radio Jockey an annual event, where we will amplify more voices from the community. We plan to employ this event as a crucial platform to promote awareness about radio and its importance in facilitating communication of vital information and stories within communities. It will also be a platform that will encourage local talent.
